Hi you do have a few problems showing in your Hjt log.
But I am not a log expert>someone will help you as soon as possible.

First of all, both MBA-M and HiJackThis must be run in normal mode. Second...all you say is Issues Galore, period. We have no idea what those issues are. You need to spell them out, HJT only gives a snapshot of the computer and some things show on the log but we need to know exactly what is going on. What happened when you attempted to run MBA-M? What happened when you tried the other steps? Many of those steps have nothing to do with running additional programs, what were the results of those?

To start with I want you to do the following:
Run HJT again system scan and put check marks next to the following entries;

Once you have placed those check marks click the Fix Checked button and then EXIT HJT.

Go to My Computer->Tools->Folder Options->View tab:

Under the Hidden files and folders heading:
Select - Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck- Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Also, make sure there is no checkmark beside Hide file extensions for known file types.
Click OK. (Remember to Hide files and folders once done)

Using Windows Explorer (right-click your "Start" button and select "Explore"), please navigate to and delete the following files/folders in bold

C:\Documents and Settings\me\Application Data\winav.exe<<<Delete this file
C:\WINDOWS\system32\dsound3dd.dll<<<Delete this file

Now empty your recycle bin.

Now do the following:
Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (MBA-M) (http://www.download.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html) to your Desktop.

DoubleClick mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install MBA-M.
Be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
Once the program has loaded, select Perform full scan, then click Scan.
When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
When MBA-M finishes, Notepad will open with the log. Please save it where you can find it easily. The log can also be opened by going to Start > All Programs > Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware > Logs > log-date.txt.

Reboot the computer

Run a new HJT scan and save the log. Post back here with the MBA-M log and the new HJT log.

I'd also recommend If you don't play bejeweled, or any of those other games very often; open the start menu; look for worldwinner games, then find the "uninstal" option, or open up windows control panel; open "add-remove programs" then find and remove worldwinner games or "pop-cap" games, you can always re-install them when you want to play again.. I'm not sure where your highscores will be stored; you may loose the game data or highscore data if you uninstall them; but they are not needed on your machine if you don't use them everyday..

I generally take screenshots of my highscores and save them my own way, or email em back n forth to friends. Bookworm was pretty addicting!

I got everything done down the install MBA-M. I already have it on my system. It will not let my current MBA-M run, it wont let me uninstall it. I downloaded it again and try to install, but it stops part way through the install.

The issues I am having are the fake pop ups for virus removal. And it wont let me run MBA-M, redirects my search pages and gives me a hard time just trying to get here!

I uninstalled my worldwinner games for now.

jholland1964
05-16-2009, 10:09 AM
Open Device Manager and on the VIEW Tab, select the Show hidden devices option.
Go down to non plug and play drivers and see if there is one called TDSSserv and disable it.
THEN try to uninstall MBA-M and install the newest version and run it as directed.

JudyP
05-16-2009, 05:30 PM
There is no TDSSserv listed. Now what?

jholland1964
05-16-2009, 06:23 PM
Let me do some checking.

jholland1964
05-16-2009, 10:37 PM
Just looked at your HJT log again...MBA-M shows it was running during the HJT scan...

JudyP
05-16-2009, 11:15 PM
Something is running because my hourglass won't go away. I have shut the computer down completely and unplugged it for a minute and restarted but the hourglass is still there. I can't get MBA-M to come up at all or even delete it.

jholland1964
05-16-2009, 11:20 PM
Check the Task Manager

JudyP
05-16-2009, 11:26 PM
Would it be MBA-M in the task manager? If it is, I don't see it there.

jholland1964
05-16-2009, 11:31 PM
mbam.exe would be the file showing if it IS MBA-M trying to launch.

JudyP
05-16-2009, 11:33 PM
I don't have that in Task Manager

jholland1964
05-17-2009, 12:13 AM
Reboot to safe mode and Uninstall MBA-M. Then reboot to normal mode and see if you can download it.

JudyP
05-17-2009, 11:41 AM
It took over 4 hours to uninstall, but it uninstalled. I downloaded it again to my desktop. But when I try to run it, it does nothing. I t ried changing the file name and same things.

Now I keep getting a pop up for Registry Defender for Windows.

jholland1964
05-17-2009, 01:17 PM
Run HJT again.
Put check marks next to the following:
F2 - REG:system.ini: UserInit=C:\WINDOWS\system32\userinit.exe,C:\WINDO WS\system32\sdra64.exe,
O2 - BHO: C:\WINDOWS\system32\jkshfuiehi.dll - {C2BA40A1-74F3-42BD-F434-12345A2C8953} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\jkshfuiehi.dll

When you have placed the check marks click the Fix Checked button.
Exit HJT.

Reboot the computer and see if you can get it to run

JudyP
05-17-2009, 01:38 PM
Now I have Spyware Protect 2009 popping up

JudyP
05-17-2009, 02:05 PM
I ran HiJack this and got rid of everything but

F2 - REG:system.ini: UserInit=C:\WINDOWS\system32\userinit.exe,C:\WINDO WS\system32\sdra64.exe,

I have tried several times but it keeps showing up in HiJack.

Have you been able to run MBA-M? Your computer is grossly infected and either you are going to have to be able to run one of these tools or honestly reformat is the next step.
You don't have an anti-virus program installed on there, yet you played a multitude of games...good way to get infected. You have at least one back door trojan on there and probably many others. Your host file entries are back in your log meaning this thing is bringing in more and more.
You might try this:
Download Combofix save it to the DESKTOP. DON'T run it yet.
We are almost ready to start ComboFix, but before we do so, we need to take some preventative measures so that there are no conflicts with other programs when running ComboFix. At this point you should do the following:

* Close all open Windows including this one.
* Close or disable all running Antivirus, Antispyware, and Firewall programs as they may interfere with the proper running of ComboFix.

Once these two steps have been completed, double-click on the ComboFix icon found on your desktop. Please note, that once you start ComboFix you should not click anywhere on the ComboFix window as it can cause the program to stall. In fact, when ComboFix is running, do not touch your computer at all and just take a break as it may take a while for it to complete.
Windows may issue a prompt because ComboFix does not have a digital signature. This is perfectly normal and safe and you can click on the Run button to continue.
ComboFix is now preparing to run and when it has finished you will see the Disclaimer screen you should press the number 1 key and then press the enter key to continue.
ComboFix will create a System Restore point so that if any problems occur while using the program you can restore back to your previous configuration. When ComboFix has finished creating the restore point, it will then backup your Windows Registry.
Once the Windows Registry has finished being backed up, ComboFix will disconnect your computer from the Internet. Therefore, do not be surprised or concerned if you receive any warnings stating that you are no longer on the Internet as your connection will be completely restored at a later stage in the program.

ComboFix will now start scanning your computer for known infections. This procedure can take some time, so please be patient.
While the program is scanning your computer, it will change your clock format, so do not be concerned when you see this happen. When ComboFix is finished it will restore your clock settings to what they were previously. You will also see the text in the ComboFix window being updated as it goes through the various stages of its scan.

When ComboFix has finished running, you will see a screen stating that it is preparing the log report
This can take a while, so please be patient. If you see your Windows desktop disappear, do not worry. This is normal and ComboFix will restore your desktop before it is finished. Eventually you will see a new screen that states the program is almost finished and telling you the programs log file, or report, will be located at C:\ComboFix.txt.
When ComboFix has finished, it will automatically close the program and change your clock back to its original format. It will then display the log file automatically
You should now post this log here when all is complete.

I cant get MBA-M, ComboFX, or SDFix to run in regular mode or safe mode. HiJack still won't delete those 2 files even after numerous attempts and reboots.

Any suggestions? Besides blowing up my computer? ;)

Here's a couple suggestions from another forum/user with the same issue regarding sdra64.exe

Switch off internet. run spybot search and destroy, fix any issues reported by spybot. Restart without the internet on or pluged in, then delete sdra64.exe from the windows/system32 directory, then restart the computer in safe mode. Use autoruns to clean up the registry, run spybot again. Restart computer.

I cant get Spybot to run either. UGH.......
Even in Safe Mode? MBA-M won't run in safe mode either? It is primarily set up to do a full scan only in Normal Mode but in cases like this then it can be run in Safe Mode

UNPLUG THE INTERNET CABLE FROM THE COMPUTER
Do this:
Click Start.
Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab.
Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm.
Click OK.

Boot to safe mode and then double click My Computer, Double Click "C" drive and go to the Windows Folder, then to the system32 folder and open it, look for and remove the items shown in RED
Don't delete the entire folder ONLY the items noted in red.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\sdra64.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\jkshfuiehi.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\__c0042424.dat

Leave the internet unplugged and reboot to normal mode. Try running MBA-M, if it won't run then try Combofix.

Have you tried renaming the tools executable file name? blam.exe or something like that?

The malware could have protections against running these programs, some of them could be a memory address range; or just actual file names..

Judy, do you know if mbam or combofix or any of the other programs will still run after
renaming the .exe?

Sorry, I'm still not on an xp machine online, otherwise I could have tested myself.

If you can't delete the files or get the apps to run, there's another option; an alternate boot disc with antivirus software. Lets try the other methods first though as many of these malware apps need to be "active" so the anti-malware program can find all it's viril tendrils and chop them off before it can delete files and kill the main infection.. If you don't get the tendrils, they can grow themselfs back into a big infection.

I have also read some recommendations to use SDfix and have also read some of the reports on several malware information sites regarding sdra64.exe ~According to these reports, this bug is said to be a trojan downloader called zbot?

keystroke logger, slash bank account information miner, slash proxy server ~able to phone home with any mined info etc..

It may not happen now or soon, but if you did your online banking, or have purchased anything online durring the time that the infection files were on your computer, they could have already got your banking/financial info and laying in wait, could happen a day, a week, a year later. All the sudden bam, you got no money or tons of weird stuff showing up on your statements, could be one or two small things, or a few big expensive things.. If you have not done any online banking or purchases with this infected computer then there is little to worry about, but if you have used this for financial stuff; make yourself a little sticky note to keep an eye on the statements.

If you notice odd transactions that were not made by you, contact your banking provider, ask them for assistance regarding unauthorised use of your accounts. Make personal notes of the date and time that you noticed the infection or issues with the computer, it may help in their investigation if you get to an issue regarding unauthorised purchases..

There may also be a hidden folder in c:\windows\system32 called lowsec, associated with the sdra64.exe infection

Cauz, not sure if combofix will run if renamed but mba-m can. Poster has all ready tried SDFix without success.
I agree with your warning concerning online banking or shopping, anything that would require a bank account number or credit card number. If you have done ANY of the above I would contact the bank and credit card company and let them know that you do have an infected computer and very likely they will give you new numbers and also flag your accounts so that an alert will go out for questionable activity.

One other thing to check, and be sure you are OFFLINE...go to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click Scheduled Tasks. Delete EVERYTHING from there.

Then go to Start, Run, msconfig and stop the following from auto starting:

realteks
TkBellExe
QuickTime Task
SunJavaUpdateSched
DellSupport
DellTransferAgent
E6TaskPanel
sysav
SVCHOST.EXE

Reboot the computer and try the clean up steps again.

Ok...here is what has been happening:
----------------------------------------------------
"Boot to safe mode and then double click My Computer, Double Click "C" drive and go to the Windows Folder, then to the system32 folder and open it, look for and remove the items shown in RED
Don't delete the entire folder ONLY the items noted in red.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\sdra64.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\jkshfuiehi.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\__c0042424.dat"

I can only remove jkshfuiehi.dll. THe other 2 say they are being used by a program, to stop the program to delete.

--------------------------------------------------------
"Have you tried renaming the tools executable file name? blam.exe or something like that?"

I have tried renaming the tools and tried them in safe and regular modes.
---------------------------------------------------------
"One other thing to check, and be sure you are OFFLINE...go to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click Scheduled Tasks. Delete EVERYTHING from there. "

When I point to system tools and click scheduled tasks, it goes to my documents folder??
------------------------------------------

"Then go to Start, Run, msconfig and stop the following from auto starting:"

When I type msconfig, it says "Windows cannot find misconfig. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. To search for a file, click the Start button, and then click Search."

I am truly sorry to say, I see no option to do anything else other than a total reformat, since you cannot run any of these clean up programs nor remove any of the infected files.

Found some other suggestions
1. Boot from my Windows XP installer.
2. Log on to recovery console.
3. Go to system32 directory folder.
4. Delete the file (del sdra64.exe).
5. Log on to Windows (on safe mode, don't know if will work on normal mode).
6. Go to regedit.
7. Modify the Userinit values

cauzomb

I'll get the user init values for you in a sec.. GOT it;
in the registry key

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon]

Find the userinit.exe value

C:\Windows\System32\Userinit.exe,C:\Windows\System32sdra64.exe,

Delete the part that says "C:\Windows\system32sdra64.exe" leaving only the first part so that your userinit key looks like "C:\Windows\system32\userinit.exe"

If you don't know how to use regedit; when you boot into safemode; open the start menu select run then type regedit

To find the userinit key, select the "edit" tool menu, then select find, then type in sdra64.exe or navigate the registry by selecting the section of the registry via the TREE on the left hand side of regedit
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon]

double click on the userinit key or right click on the key and select modify values, this will bring up the box that allows you to delete the sdra64 entry..

You should also be able to delete the other files from the recovery console prompt;

One of them is listed in your hijackthis scan

O20 - Winlogon Notify: __c0042424 - C:\WINDOWS\system32\__c0042424.dat

from the recovery prompt type

del c:\windows\system32\__c0042424.dat

If you don't have a windows xp installation disc there are other boot disc's that you can have a friend download and burn to a bootable CD in order to gain access to the hard drive, without loading the infected opperating system.

If you are able to delete sdra64.exe and the other .dat file via a boot disc; then once you get rid of sdra64.exe in the registry, you should be able to run the rest of the steps in the sticky to clean up... I have read that avast free antivirus and or kapersky will do it, but if mbam will run after deleting the files and registry values; update it and allow it to clean and fix anything, also recommend following judy's instructions for combofix after getting rid of these files the hard way.

I think this one sdra64.exe is stopping the rest of your clean up applications, it's probly a rootkit and will load with windows in both safe mode and normal mode, that's why it's difficult to get rid of; the userinit registry value is why it won't delete; because that is saying it's a system/protected file, to load and run the file when windows boots; and the other value in the previous scan that says "disable regedit=1" means that regedit is disabled.. If you try to change the registry in normal mode with the file still remaining on the computer, it will fix itself nearly instantly. It has to be done in safe mode; after deleting the bad files from a non infected boot disc that is able to read the NTFS partition with full read/write permissions; that's why it's best to use your windows installation disc and log into the recovery console as administrator.

I guess I will just reformat. My computer needs a good cleaning anyhow. And time wise, I just do not have the time or the mental ability to spend after the week I have had.

How do I do this? How do I reformat when all I got from Dell is a Reinstallation CD?

That is all you need to reformat and reinstall the operating system. Surely you also received a Drivers and Utilities Disk.
