Maybe I did not search correctly...

On a system I found some spyware, which:
1)Makes internet explorer, firefox start (without my starting such
programs)
2)may have led to firefox, ie, open tabs./windows, without my wanting
to!

I downloaded several anti-spyware programs, they all identified the
malicious program, however, all of them, seemed to want monies to
clean. So some "non free" are free for, perhaps, analysis, but not
for, cleaning(removing).

It's good to be protected against spyware/virus, spyware/virus may
damage the system....

Microsoft Windows defender seems to be a good free anti-spyware
program, I am not able to use it on the effected system, because the
spyware has taken control of certain files/registry entries etc...

Windows defender may be downloaded from Mocrosoft
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/winfamily/defender/default.mspx

Yahoo anti-spy was not able to remove the malicious program. Yahoo
anti-spy is available at:
http://www.google.com/url?sa=U&start=3&q=http://www.download.com/Yahoo-Toolbar-with-Anti-Spyware/3000-12512_4-10310984.html&ei=OD5qSe-6MITqNJno0Z0H&usg=AFQjCNHLQHFX2A52IscmIiBBA-aWsKvr2Q

Yahoo anti spy did not show up on then ie/firefox toolbar, I went into
C:\program files\Yahoo!\YPSR and ran it......

I continue to try to find some spyware cleaning agents, which, do so
for no charge....

I played, and, am playing with spybot, which seems to be free, it
however has, yet, not detected/removed the malicious code. I may have
to tune spybot options settings...you may consider installing spybot:

clamwin, http://www.clamwin.com seems to be free anti virus....

ads of cyberdefender - SEEM TO BE FREE DOWNLOADS - THEY ARE NOT FREE
REMOVAL TOOLS

CLAMWIN IS TOTALLY FREE, ADS ON CLAMWIN SITE ARE NOT FOR TOTALLY FREE
STUFF...

Use my Remove-it software, it will remove that malware from your system.

The free versios of:
MalwareByte's AntiMalware (MBAM)
SuperAntiSpyware (SAS)

Already mentioned in a reply by David H. Lipman.
Just wanted to second that.
The above free programs are excellent and will find and remove malware and
spyware without any cost.
Report back on the results.
PS: Download, install, update and then run one until it has finished
removing the problem.
MBAM runs best in Normal Windows
SAS 'sometimes' needs to be run in SafeMode to finish certain infections
It helps to delete your temp files, inc your temporarty internet files and
cookies (ones you don't need) and empty your Recycled Bin.
