View Full Version : New Desk Setup
Gizmokid2005 08-08-2008, 11:58 PM Well, I am moving out of the parents and got a fair bit of my stuff moved. I have some random stuff left to move.
Know what that means?? Yup, I get a new desk (well new to me :) )!!! So here are some pics of my setup now:

The computer on the desk is my actual computer running both of the monitors. One 19" widescreen and one 17", both LCD. The laptop is a Macbook, and the Dell under the desk is my server. It's so nice to finally have some room :)

When the hell did you move back in with your parents? I thought you were living alone in an apartment or something??
The computer on the desk is my actual computer running both of the monitors. One 19" widescreen and one 17", both LCD.Both LCD, huh? Lol, has anyone mistaken them for a CRT before? Jesuz Giz, I think even a 10yr old kid knows wtf an LCD looks like!! :fart:
The laptop is a MacbookYeah, that was another DUH, no Windows laptop I know comes in that annoyingly white shell. :baby:
and the Dell under the desk is my server. It's so nice to finally have some room :)
Overall a very nice setup, I am happy for you. Just do us a favor and get rid of that gay red light strip on the double, please. :yikes:

Nope, moved back in with the parents last June when they got the bigger mobile home. Now I have my own :)

Don't even get me started...I've met people that dumb...
Yeah, that was another DUH, no Windows laptop I know comes in that annoyingly white shell. :baby:
Some people are too stupid and think it's an iBook or MBP or something...

Thanks :)
I put the rope light behind it for a reason, I needed light. The white rope light is just a little too bright.
cauzomb 08-09-2008, 11:50 PM So that's what a macbook looks like LOL. I sometimes wonder if both of my LCD's use less juice than my old CRT.

Especially back in my hardcore gaming days, I would have never thought that one day, I would do away with CRT. Well, I did and frankly, I do not miss it least bit!
Current LCDs are pretty darn big and clear with good response rates and contrast ratios. :bliss:
cauzomb 08-10-2008, 12:56 AM Yes they are nice n clear and contrasty and pretty quick in games, but my 19" crt at 1280x1024 and 100hz refresh rate is smoother than my lcd, probly due to pixel refresh time and V-sync being higher on the crt.
/begin rant.. Higher fps can lead to more accurate up to date mouse movements in shooters, and when you have a pretty accurate laser mouse, you want to be able to pumpkin anyone without "LAG" cause without that, we wind up trying to aim where they "MIGHT BE" in the next few frames, rather than trying to track them, cause you can't actually do that anymore with all "THEIR" mods, you know, the network packet timing and tickrate and all that other stuff to stop hitscan weapon hackers in online games. The hacked game server/internet BS causes the aiming to be "less than what used to be possible" to some un-natural, try and trick the computer to think that you are doing something else, when really you are actually aiming at the thing on the screen, cause you used to be able to aim at what was on the screen, but not anymore, for some reason it "JUMPS" front or back a couple frames... before these changes, you could point, and hit by pressing the mouse button..../end rant...
So yeah, dual 19" extended is pretty sweet, been using it for a little while and, well, needs more "OPTIONS" like to be able to have both monitors turned portrait mode, without having to turn the mouse 90deg to match x-y movements, and to extend desktop in "ANY" direction from the primary monitor... up/down, left top, left bottom, right top/bottom etc.. cause new cards have dual dvi and new boards have 3 and four pci-e slots, n stuff.....
This is my stuff :)

Mathster 08-10-2008, 03:09 PM I dont have a desk at home, just bounce from chair to chair with the dell lappy.
I will get some pics from work
cauzomb 08-11-2008, 01:27 AM Did a little looking into the power consumption info for my dell 1905's 35 watts peak "each" when on and being used... My single 19" crt uses.. ... 105 Watts peak, 95 watts average? So, by using my dual dell 1905's, instead of the single 19" crt, I've doubled my usable screen area and reduced power consumption by approximately 33 percent :)

now ditch the desktop for a laptop and cut that 500 watt power supply to a 90 watt.
cauzomb 08-12-2008, 12:11 AM LOL! the psu is "capable" of delivering 520Watts , but I'm not using that much :) I wouldn't mind ditching this system for a decent lap burner though.
