HP pavilion 8130
XP Pro

2 new hard drives WD scorpio 120gb EIDE

OK, I installed both hard drives, and got the xp onto the C drive, and got up and running. Everything works fine.
I then attempted to format the second or "D" drive. When I put the disc in it started set up. I didn't see any choice of where.
At the end of the set up it asked if I wanted to repair or install windows or quit. It only listed the C drive, so I hit esc and popped out the disc.
The computer restarted, and now it wants to know which operating system to start.
1. Windows XP
2. Windows set up.

I don't understand how to make it format the D drive without affecting the C drive.
Also, now how to get the start up back to normal.
Can someone help?
Jim

OK, I found out how to rename and format the D drive. It's formatting even as I type right now.
I still need to get the start up back to normal. Will I have to re-format the C drive and reinstall windows again?

no, there's a "windows startup" menu in one of the msconfig area's that states which drive: folder/boot menu etc... It's just a matter of changing the boot menu; I will try to get more info for you in a little bit.. [edit] well, I didnt' find much about an issue regarding setup being added to the boot menu; but I did find some info by searching support.microsoft.com for boot.ini I found the folling info that might be usefull to you editing boot.ini winXP (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/289022/en-us)
