Ryan Jackson 07-31-2003, 03:42 PM Hi, I'm new here, and I have a major problem. and I am looking for
information
I own an IBM thinkpad. it was sent to IBM to be serviced in March, I got
it back in may, but the HD was wiped. I re-installed my anti-virus, and
Security (both Norton) and went back to my usual internet habits. a week
later I was at my friends watching some movies on the laptop, I had to leave
for a bit, so I told her she could listen to my music. to make a long story
short. she found Child Porn in my recieved files for MSN. I dont look at any
porn, and children, well thats just very, very wrong..
anyway, the police are currently running forensics on the computer. but
they say I will most likely be charged with possesion. if I am convicted I
am looking at 2-5 years. I need to clear my name.
at this point I believe someone hacked through my security and put
the files there. for what reason I do not know. if anyone out there can help
me, in any way. info, past experience, etc....please respond to my plea. I
am an innocent man, and I fear the justice system will fail me, if I dont
take action
I have been told by people in other groups that it is likely that
someone used a form of spyware, to plant the files on my system. If anyone
can help me understand, this, or figure out how it could happen. Or if you
can provide me with any other ideas/information. i would greatly appreciate
it.
thanks
Ryan
This is some "friend". Are you sure she had nothing to do with it? What was
she doing poking around in your files? And why was she so quickly able to find
the bad files? This all sounds fishy.

it sounds fishy at first, but what happened was. I was at her place
watching movies. I had to go home for a bit. so I left her with the
computer, told her to listen to music if she wanted. she didnt know where I
kept my music. (she isnt very comp. literate. anyway. she rememberd sending
me a Mp3 over MSN, so she checked the recieved folder to find it. and she
found about 30 pics of your children engaging in sex acts. she wasnt going
to report me, but having been abused in the past, she was scared, she called
her bf. who is a law student. and he told her to call. she later said she
regretted it, and even told the police she didnt believe i was capable of
this. we ave been friends for over 10 years now, and I trust this woman with
my life

at this moment, the RCMP (Canadian version of the FBI) has possesion of
the computer. they obtained 2 search warrants, and are running forensic
tests
Little Johnny 08-01-2003, 10:13 AM Amen. BIG time GET A LAWYER
And don't be talking to anyone until you do. Anything you say to anyone can
come back to kick you in the ass. Start writing down EVERYTHING. You may
want to start looking for a good computer person yourself. Someone that can
do a forensic test for you.
Get a company that specializes in this kind of thing, not some friend of a
friend that thinks he is a geek. This is high tech work and they have to
testify in court as to what they found and how they found it.
If you need some names contact me by email and I'll send you or you att some
good ones.
