Okay I have been going over and over this for some while now, and I think I have narrowed it down. Going to get a new Intel Core2 Quad Q6600 4x2.4GHz CPU, but I am having one hell of a time trying to find a compatible motherboard.
My PC World Mag suggest a Foxconn, but I have never heard of them before. Are they any good? Also looking around I have noticed that some motherboard companies say they are ready for this CPU but looking at the specs to what is compatible do not list the one I am looking at. This is very confusing.
Example
P5K Premium/WiFi-AP
The 3rd Generation Black Pearl Special Edition P5K Premium motherboard

- Support Intel® next generation 45nm Multi-core CPU
- Intel® Core™2 Quad / Core™2 Extreme / Core™2 Duo / Pentium® Extreme / Pentium® D / Pentium® 4 Processors
- Support next generation 45nm muti-core CPU
- Intel® P35 chipset
- Dual-channel DDR2 1066/800/667 MHz
- Dual Gigabit LAN
- WiFi-AP

But I noticed that the Intel Core2 Quad Q6600 4x2.4GHz is Manufacturing Tech 65 nm and the board is 45 nm.
This is just one of the boards I am looking at.
What I use my PC for is mainly internet and gaming.
Here is what I currently have
AMD Athlon 64 200+
Nvidia 7900GT/GTO
4gb of Ram
Is this a problem?

Thanks

foxxcon makes some good boards and they've been around for some time now

but most anything with 965 or p35 chipset will work

i recomend the P35 neo

my desktop has a p5b-e and i LOVE it and it'll support that chip
dunno if they still make it
