View Full Version : Internet Explorer Vs Firefox
I'm new to the forum & I love online debates so I thought I would kick off my first post with this, I only just downloaded firefox and i love it, my vote goes to firefox and i will never go back! I mainly like it because it has tabbed browsing, its fast, includes spell checking, you can add extra plugins & extensions! if you use firefox already, upgrade to firefox 2 now, if you don't have it yet, download it FREE from: Firefox (http://www.firefox2dl.com)
Which do you prefer? please cast your vote & give your views...
knight0334 06-15-2007, 08:58 AM Firefox for sure...
I've used Firefox for the last 2+ years now. After about 1 year I noticed that I no longer get spyware, malware or virus/worms from browsing questionable websites. Presently I dont use a anti-virus or anti-spy/mal-ware program - at all... occasionally I do install one and run it to see if anything has entered my system. ...which turns out to be a waste of time.
Use Firefox.

I run an A/V, but I have used FF for the last 4 years....will NEVER go back. For those pesky IE only sites, use IETab extension :D
I like living on the edge so I use IE7 with Vista Business Edition. No problems so far and I only use AVG for A/V with no spyware/malware proggies....
Gizmokid2005 06-15-2007, 07:35 PM God.....I wouldn't be able to do it...IE7 is SO slow...I run it on my mac in boot camp, booted into Vista Business...and it DRAGS compared to FF2....I just like FF better, ESPECIALLY for how fast it is.
TurcoLoco 06-15-2007, 10:22 PM I use Crazy Browser (version 1.05 though!!), fast just like IE6 but with awesome tabbed browsing and pop-up blocking and a few other cool bonuses.
FF doesn't seem as efficient or as fast to me but it is definitely a fast and safe browser with hella cool add-ons/plug-ins. It has come a long way and it is hard not to like it, especially the version 2.x! I have started to use more of FF since version 2 came out but I still can not do away with IE6 engine based CrazyBrowser just yet....but I say a big NO to IE7!!
Another browser that have improved greately as well is Opera 9.x! Fast and full of nice features! ;)
TurcoLoco 06-17-2007, 12:54 PM Mona instead of suggesting other download links whether they are legit or not, it is always best to use the link I revised yours with (http://www.mozilla.org/download.html). ;)

It may be slow on you rig but it runs fine on mine..What can I say?
Gizmokid2005 06-17-2007, 08:09 PM It's not bad on Vista as it's so integrated.....but in XP, IE7 is SO slow...
OEM_guy 06-18-2007, 07:07 AM I once was quite fluent in IE, security settings, a restricted sites list that covered most threats and everything was fully tweaked and went smoothly.
Then about 3 years ago I tried Firefox.
This kid hasn't looked back since!
Now I run across folks who need assistance with IE and I can barely recall how to setup what they need -- so much easier to just switch them to Firefox.
As to those pesky IE only sites - somebody else can view them as this surfer is so very not interested one iota.
Blakhart 06-18-2007, 08:56 PM Conversely, I loved the old ff, hate the new one. Had some odd issues that weren't present before in ff, and went back to ie, hate ie7 by the way. Ie6 it is.
starshooter10 06-23-2007, 06:44 PM IE 7 isn't slow...
and F1 defender is built into vista (thats your adware/spyware "proggie"
i like IE7 but i installed the AVANT! face (it's a skin of types with MANY features)
cauzomb 06-24-2007, 12:53 AM I just tried FF 2.0, I don't have any major concerns, just that I can't seem to get flash movies to play in FF2.0
IE 7 sucked my computer into BSOD's, IE 6 did the same thing... "THEY" don't want me to use 9x windows :P I use ie 5.50 with no scripts for several years having to click on the "no no" scripts message on every page transition so that I could use scripts on one or two trusted sites. Now I'm getting malformed cookies that cause my pointer/cursor to stop responding until I delete that cookie... very strange cookie.. also alot of new web code is not backward compatible with standard html browsers and has code that may cause system instability, such as the bsod that I recieved when trying to view haylinders photobucket flv video, and one other video posted by F1 at the same place... Their web code is not compatible with old internet explorer??? but it works the second time around??? why would it only NOT work on the first vissit??? perhaps it's a cookie/temp file issue that disapears once there is a photobucket cookie in the cache...

hopefully that info will help to resolve the flash issue
rollings 06-26-2007, 01:42 AM Hello members.
I have been using firefox for long time now. And I think this is best browser. I used some of others like Green and it is fine too. The Most I didnt like was Opera.

callygull 08-27-2007, 10:16 AM Firefox for sure. I have use IE for about 6 years, but happened to start working for a company that uses firefox, and now I will never use Explorer at home again. Thunderbird is great too.
