View Full Version : Does SATA motherboard support SATAII?

hello everybody ,

i bought an asus motherboard (P5B ) which support SATA HDD . but i have a Seagate 7200 160 GB SATAII HDD . will my motherboard support it . i mean will that work with my motherboard . actually i dont expect that my motherboard support it as SATAII . i mean will it detect as SATA HDD my HDD ?

It will support SATA-II. Even if the mobo was only SATA-I, it would have recognized the HDD but would only operate at SATA-I speeds.

I have the Intel version (DG965CO) of that same motherboard; as Knight pointed out, it will support SATA II drives as well as RAID functions and a whole lot more. Nice board, lot's of features...

the P5B is a GREAT board..

i run the P5B-E it has intel raid and firewire.. (on differance)

the J-micro raid sux


and your board will do just fine =-D
