I need a good (free preferably) program that will tell me whats accessing my HDD. I cant seem to find anything free thats worthwhile on the intarweb.

Do you mean you feel you have an "outsider" accessing your hard drive? or do you want to know what is loading and running all the time?

MsConfig will tell you what is loading up based on the "Run" key in the Registry; Process Explorer (http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/utilities/ProcessExplorer.mspx) will tell you what all those svchost entries are in Task Manager. You should be able to google the rest of the entries separately.

Process explorer is a good tool, there's a couple more free ones out there; Punkrkr You got PM

I just wanted to mentioned What's Running listed under the Monitoring section of My Loco Utility List (see signature).

That tool provides a boat load of valuable info...

We know that Startshooter...we have given him several options on how to find this out and I asked him my question to be certain he didn't mean something was accessing the computer from the "outside". But as you see, he has not returned.

I don't think he needed anything at all. I think he wanted to start this thread to let us know that he was still live and kicking! :dancinge:
