This last weekend I went down to my favorite gunshop to pickup another NEF/H&R Handi-Rifle for a project. ...but I got there I saw that they had a Ruger single action 32 H&R mag for sale. So, I molested the nice little revolver for awhile until saw what I've been wanting for all my life. A hammered side-by-side 12ga shotgun.

Needless to say, a new Handi didn't come home with me. I'm the proud parent to a Liberty II 24" 12ga IC/M choked scatterblaster. For being an import gun on the cheap side ($429+tax/etc) it is really really nice! The wood is beautiful, with a very tight wood-to-metal fit. The Turkish walnut has some sweet grain and marbling, somewhat resembling a fine English double shotgun/rifle. The action on this shotty is darn tight too. Nice case hardened finish as well.

This shotgun will play a few parts for me, a dove, rabbit, squirrel, and grouse blaster. ...and a formitable home defense cannon.

Here's basically what it looks like, except the case coloring is more prominate. I'll post actual pics of it once I get back home from my out-of-town job.

Cant go wrong with Glock, or a 1911 'n Keltec combo..

Shrew

Its a Springfield Armory, the model is the Champion. Because its a 4" barrel instead of the original 5" its not technicaly a 1911(A1). PW9142LP is the model number to be specific and I am insulted that you would relate it to a Hi-Point. Rock Island Armory, Charles Daly, Armscor, are closer to a Hi-Point, though RIA is proving to be a ver reliable platform from what I have seen.

And thanks Knight, I remember from the old thread that you have quite the nice collection.

most companies put their name on the side of the gun, not just their model name.

I just picked one of these up a couple hours ago in 9mm flavor.

Walther P99QA (Quick Action) Mil Green w/black slide. $559+tax+insta-check fee. Got me a box of defensive loads and (100rd)box of target FMJs..

I was gonna get a hi-cap 45cal 1911 or a XD-45, but decided otherwise after shooting my friend's Walther. Loaded its about a pound lighter than my 1911, which has been causing additional back pain due to it's weight.

I'll try to get actual pics posted once I get home Thurs.

Nice pics Knight, even though I am not too crazy about guns, I do appreciate a good firearm when I see/use one.
I might have to get me a decent pistol or a shotgun once I move to AZ and get me a house.
What pistol is that in the pic (I like the way it looked)? Is that a 9mm (though the bullets looked like .40/.45 cal)?

knight0334
03-16-2007, 10:11 AM
Its a Walther P99 9mm. The 9mm, 40 S&W and 45acp are all about the same kenetic energy level. All sufficient to protect the home, family and one's self.

That Walther P99 runs about $500-$600 depending on the local market. I paid $559+tax+instant background check fee.

45ACP(left) vs. 9mm(right) Both are Federal Defense loads w/Hydra-Shock bullets.

Kidding, of course, all is well and thank you Knight. I am jealous of you two. So far I didn't have a place and need to own a gun but probably after I relocate and buy my own place (hopefully soon), I will get a gun or two....for home defense of course..ehem...lol (if PP sees this he might give me sh*t but I can't help it if I like guns (for their mechanics and also shooting targets only though). I could never go hunting or shoot anyone, I know you gonna think I am weak but oh well....:(

thank you.
I debated between an AR and AK and after shooting both, I was set on the AR.
the AK was uncomfortable. to be able to see the sights, I had to mount the rifle so high on my shoulder, the bottom of the stock was against my collar bone.
I think next year or so, I will get an XD. I dont know if I want the 4" in .45 or the subcompact in 9mm.

knight0334
03-26-2007, 10:34 PM
I debated on getting an XD with my tax money. They are nice for sure..

It was a competition between: Glock 17, 19, 21 , the XD 45, and Walther P99. All of which fine pieces, but as you can see - the Walther won. lol

I'm also getting a 5/6 shot 38/357mag 2-3" snubby and another 45-70(to be reamed out to 45-120) this year.

What the heck did you mean by that?

If you compare the angle of most glock handgrips to the barrel, its close to the same angle as revolvers.
most autoloaders its closer to a 90 degree angle.

Depending on which your accustomed to, this will make you shoot low or high.
Look at Knights photos. draw a line from the barrel thru the backstrap of his autoloader.
Now do the same thing with the revolver below. see the difference in the angle of the grip to the barrel? glock is closer to a revolver than an autoloader.

Make sense?

Yes, it does make a lot of sense and I have to agree, I prefer to ones that are closer to the 90 degree angle.

Dtex, that is one sweet collection. I have a much smaller collection myself!
Sadly, most of mine are China/Taiwan made knock offs of the US made originals... All I got is a 1950's style 7" K-Bar but I will eventually get more authentic blades as I love them a whole a lot more than guns!
Also on my list is a set of original Katanas, though I have no idea how to smuggle them out of Japan without getting caught! :yikes:

That is my problem though, I love knives but I do not have the slightest clue to the make/model of the knives I had seen and liked in the past...is there a good magazine or web site you can recommend to get that info?

I noticed you buy the knife first, then kill the snake with it then decorate it with the snake you killed using it....very nice setup! lol

You're from Cali? If so, it might be a little bit of a chore to buy a firearm in another state because you also have to abide my your resident state's laws.

Handguns = not a chance. You can only buy receive a handgun from a dealer or private transfer in your resident state. No interstate sales of handguns per federal law.

a couple mile from the gun shop is an wide spot in the road where people dump junk to shoot... go bang, bang, bang, bang until Im done. Life is good in middle america...

Actually, if Im so inclined, I load the pistol while im in the gun shop, drop it in a pocket or under my shirt and walk out with a loaded concealed firearm..
